Oston Urunov #11
FWD · Persepolis · Squad member · Uzbekistan
Profile
Urunov was born in Navoi, the region named in honor of the great Uzbek poet, thinker, and statesman, the father of the Uzbek literary language, Alisher Navoi. In 2016 Urunov became the captain of the Uzbekistan youth team, made his league debut for Navbahor the following year and in 2018 was named the young player of the year. The award was presented to him by Héctor Cúper, who then gave him his full international debut the following year. At that time, Oston was 18 years and five months old. But after that rapid ascent came a more difficult period: he moved to Ufa in Russia in 2020 and, less than a year later, to Spartak Moscow. "At Spartak everything was going well at first,” he said, “but I couldn't show my full potential because of injury after injury." He spent three years in Russia before returning to Navbahor, but in 2024 was on the move again to Persepolis in Iran, where he won his first league title in 2023-24 – but he still has high ambitions: "Since I was young, I dreamed of playing for Manchester United, and now I dream of PSG," he says.
