Bayindir started his career off as a striker: “I grew up playing on the streets and I used to play as a striker but then I would go in goal to protect our lead after racking up the score because I was the tallest kid,” he has said. Played for Bursaspor and Ankaragucu during his youth career before four years at Fenerbahce. In 2023 he joined Manchester United but playing time has been limited. First he was behind André Onana in the pecking order and then, having started the 2025-26 campaign as the No 1, he was quickly replaced by Senne Lammens. Bayindir is an agile goalkeeper but he is also prone to the odd mistake. The former United goalkeeper, Edwin van der Sar was one of Bayindir’s idols growing up and told the official club website that his family was so happy that he had joined the Premier League side: “We are talking every day, they are incredibly happy for me and I know I have a big responsibility representing the club.”
