Primarily a left-back who can also operate in central defence, Ben Hmida has been described as “every coach’s dream” by Sabri Lamouchi, who values the 30-year-old as a “versatile, serious, and hard working” defender. Ben Hmida has limited experience in major international tournaments for Tunisia. He was an undisputed starter at the 2021 Arab Cup in Qatar, where Tunisia reached the final, but only played one minute across three matches in the 2025 edition, which saw the team go out in the group stage.
