Findlay Curtis #25

FWD · Rangers · Young gun · Scotland

Profile

Steve Clarke’s appearance at the March meeting of Kilmarnock and Hearts proved vital for Curtis. The Rangers loanee produced a fine performance on the left wing for Kilmarnock, with Clarke calling up Curtis just days later for friendly matches. “I was bursting with pride and told my mum and dad,” Curtis recalled. “My mum started crying.” Scotland are short of wide attacking options, which undoubtedly helped Curtis’s case, with Clarke also keen to demonstrate he has eyes on the next generation after Harvey Barnes rejected Scotland’s overtures. Curtis’s international involvement came late; he only appeared for Scotland’s Under-21 team for the first time last year. Clarke has not unreasonably compared Curtis to Ben Gannon-Doak. The likelihood is Curtis will be given a serious shot at first-team football with Rangers next season. He certainly should be.
