Lewis Ferguson #19
MID · Bologna · Goal threat · Scotland
Profile
Ferguson would likely be plying his trade for an Italian giant by now – Juventus and the Milan clubs had credible interest – but for the serious knee injury sustained in April of 2024, which kept him out of the Euros of that summer. “The first thing I asked was ‘Does this mean I’m missing the Euros?’ and they said yes,” Ferguson said. “That was a difficult moment. I’m not an emotional guy but I just sat there thinking that was my chance to play in a major tournament and it was gone. It had been something I’d always dreamed about so it was difficult. But here we are now.” The following year, he emulated Graeme Souness as Scotsmen to win the Coppa Italia. The Bologna captain hails from a family of classy midfielders; namely father Derek and uncle Barry. A combative midfielder who provides a goal threat Scotland are yet to properly tap in to.
