An old-fashioned number nine who likes to let defenders know he is around, get stuck in, chase lost causes and generally be a pain. Scored the equaliser against Argentina in the 2-1 win at the 2022 World Cup but he has still suffered from the same problem that all Saudi strikers have at the moment in that he is now a bit-part player for Al-Ittihad and is likely to be the same for the national team. "The presence of a large number of foreigners in the league has two sides,” he said recently. “The first is positive, with the opportunity to interact with the best international players, such as playing alongside Karim Benzema. The negative side is somewhat limited [opportunities], with fewer playing minutes.”
