Mosquera is up against some of football’s greatest goalscorers each week in the Saudi Pro League but he himself actually knows what it’s like to find the net. While a young goalkeeper at Tauro in 2015, he scored a last-minute equaliser as his team chased the league title but then got injured. “It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish,” he told his coach. “I’ll recover and we’ll be champions.” He left Tauro as a three-time Primera División winner and spent time in Turkey, Bolivia, Venezuela and Israel before arriving at Al-Fayha, where he plays behind Chris Smalling. “Kuty” is a commanding presence between the posts and takes charge of his six-yard box. He was Panama’s No 1 for the 2023 Gold Cup run and is appearing at his first World Cup.
