Alberto Quintero #19
FWD · Plaza Amador · Legend · Panama
Profile
Quintero made his professional debut two decades ago with El Chorrillo in Panama City. He comes from the humble neighbourhood of the same name and pursued a career in football as a way of providing for his family. “My main strength is perseverance, 100%,” he has said. Gifted and skilful but also tireless and versatile, Quintero became a modern winger with his ability to go past players and set up opponents. His 20-year career has taken him to Spain, Colombia, Mexico and the United States, while he is an iconic figure at Universitario de Deportes in Peru. He returned to Panama two years ago to finish his career with Plaza Amador. He played a key role in Panama’s historic qualification for the 2018 World Cup but broke his foot in a warm-up match before heading to Russia. After over 140 caps for his country – and just a couple since 2023 – the 38-year-old can make his World Cup bow.
