Rodríguez lost his father at the age of 10 but the youngster from Panama City found the strength to dream big through football and his family – his brother Marcos is a former captain of El Chorrillo. A winger with lightning speed, “El Puma” has made a name for himself in Belgium, Spain, Portugal and Serbia. He isn’t afraid to try his luck from distance either, scoring via a deflection off Tunisia’s Yassine Meriah in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup. The 27-year-old, now playing in Mexico, has found a mentor in the Panama head coach, Thomas Christensen. “I’m very grateful to ‘El Profe’ … we know each other very well and we’re like a family,” Rodríguez has said. His mother still celebrates every goal with tears of pride in her eyes.
