Max Crocombe #1

GK · Millwall · Squad member · New Zealand

Profile

Of Cook Islands heritage, Maxime Teremoana Crocombe was born in Auckland before moving to England as a youngster. He was the man between the sticks in Salford City’s National League North winning season in 2017/18 – his form earning him a national debut for the All Whites in a friendly against Canada in 2018, the first of more than 20 international caps to date. He was a key force for Grimsby Town when it became the first team in history to eliminate five teams from higher divisions in a single FA Cup season, reaching the quarter-finals in 2023. In total, he has been at 10 clubs in the UK before cracking it with Millwall in the Championship and was first choice keeper by Christmas 2025. Along the way there’s been plenty of time on the bench. “I’m not really one to sulk about it,” he told the BBC. “I always believe I will play.” He’s twice earned the Golden Glove award at international tournaments and has retained All Whites head coach Darren Bazeley’s trust. He’s been nominated as having the best banter in the squad, leading fellow All White Ben Waine to say: “sometimes it’s dry humour but he is quite funny.”
