The first Japanese goalkeeper to establish himself as a Serie A regular, Suzuki is athletic, a solid shot-stopper, and has strong distribution, too – capable of reaching deep into the opposition half. Since joining Parma in 2024 from Belgium’s Sint-Truiden he has dedicated himself to learning Italian and now speaks it fluently. He also speaks openly about his ambitions: “I want to become one of the best keepers in the world and win the Champions League … That might sound unrealistic, like something out of an anime, but you never know what could happen.” His determination and rapid development continue to fuel high expectations. Off the pitch he is a big coffee fan: he has embraced Italy’s espresso culture, but also bought a grinder to grind his own beans at home.
