Kwasi Sibo #8
MID · Real Oviedo · Squad member · Ghana
Profile
Until fairly recently, Kwasi was the lesser-known of the Sibo brothers. His brother Simon always drew the focus, having captained local side Liberty Professionals and represented Ghana’s youth national teams in the late 2010s. However, Kwasi truly upstaged him after helping Real Oviedo to secure La Liga promotion for the first time in 24 years. Not that Simon has conceded supremacy, though. “When I come down for holidays, Simon still trains me,” says Kwasi. “He is still my coach, and every now and then, he will teach me a trick or two! But me playing for Ghana is the fulfilment of a family dream. My brothers have always wanted one of us to play for the Black Stars.” The name Sibo in the Lambossie language (of the Sissala ethnic group in Ghana’s Upper West Region) means a big family of warriors, and Kwasi is true to that: combative, athletic and relentless on the ball.
