Assan Ouédraogo #25
MID · RB Leipzig · Late arrival · Germany
Profile
The replacement for Lennart Karl, who had to fly back to Germany after a torn thigh muscle. It came as something of a surprise that Julian Nagelsmann called up Ouédraogo rather than Said El Mala. He has long been regarded as one of Germany’s brightest attacking talents – the youngster from Ruhrgebiet made his debut for Schalke at the age of 17. However, for RB Leipzig, who Ouédraogo joined in the summer of 2024, he has made only 25 appearances in two years. His problem: he is constantly sidelined by injuries. But when he is fit, the skilled dribbler produces moments of brilliance. He needed just two minutes to score his first international goal. His appearance against Slovakia in November remains his only cap to date. Although Nagelsmann did not originally include him in the squad, it is entirely possible that Ouédraogo will not just be on holiday in the US, but will also get important minutes on the pitch.
