Ahmed Sayed ‘Zizo’ #25
FWD · Al Ahly · Unsung hero · Egypt
Profile
Zizo has carved out a reputation as one of Egyptian club football's most clinical, goalscoring wingers. His finest campaign came in 2021-22 with Zamalek, when he finished as the league’s top scorer with 19 goals. When his contract expired in June 2025, Al Ahly, Zamalek's fiercest rivals, moved swiftly to sign Zizo on a four-year deal, making it one of the most controversial transfers in Egyptian football. “How could Al Ahly not sign the best player in Egypt, especially since he was a free agent?” said the former Egyptian and Zamalek goalkeeper, Nader El-Sayed. “The Zizo deal wasn’t spiteful. He’s the best player in Africa, and he came on a free transfer. Al Ahly is similar to Real Madrid.” The 30-year-old brings pace, technique, and an unerring eye for goal to Egypt's wide attacking options. “I always wanted to be a footballer,” he says. “I never thought about what level I could reach, didn’t even dream about playing for Egypt, but I was always going to be a footballer. There was no other option.”
