Hamdy Fathy #14
MID · Al-Wakrah · Anchor · Egypt
Profile
A combative defensive midfielder whose career has taken him from the trenches of Egyptian football to continental glory with Al Ahly. Fathy began his professional career with Damanhour, moved to Enppi in 2015, then to Petrojet one year later, and joined Al Ahly in 2019. At Al Ahly, his career truly flourished, quickly establishing himself as a regular starter and achieved impressive success, winning three each of the Egyptian Premier League, the Egyptian Cup, the Egyptian Super Cup and the CAF Champions League. He then moved to the Qatari side Al-Wakrah in 2023. In the summer of 2025, Al Ahly brought him back on loan specifically to participate in the 2025 Club World Cup. Fathy is also a national team regular, with 62 appearances to his name at the time of writing, playing as a disruptor in front of the defence. “I can play as a No 6, as a centre-back in a three, in a two. Whatever the coach wants, I will do,” he says. “I have no preference. What matters to me is only the best interests of the team.”
