Jordy Caicedo #16

FWD · CA Huracán · Classic No 9 · Ecuador

Profile

A classic No 9, Caicedo brings power, presence, a scoring instinct and strong heading ability. In 2019 he spoke about his first steps in football, growing up in the humble neighbourhood of Nuevo Pilo in Machala. “It was economically poor there, but there were many boys and we didn't see the poverty. We used to play street football in neighborhoods with rich kids, we bet money and we always won. We were the best. We used the money to buy bread and soda.” When he wasn’t playing he was helping his dad keep the family afloat. “My father sold coconut and tamarind juice, as well as coconut candy, on the street and on the beach, and I helped him." That stopped when, at 13, Caicedo was scouted at his local club. At 17 he turned professional with Universidad Católica de Quito. His career since has taken in spells in Brazil, Bulgaria, Mexico, Turkey and Spain, and he moved to Argentina with Huracán last year.
