Ordóñez is a towering centre-back who has become a pillar at Club Brugge, known for his maturity and defensive intelligence. Born in Guayaquil and raised in the Independiente del Valle youth system, he moved to Belgium in 2022 and steadily built his reputation, growing from a raw prospect into a reliable starter and international option for Ecuador. His rise reflects focus, patience, and consistency. One of his early coaches said it could have been a different career trajectory though, recalling his boyhood desire to be the star man up front, to “be Enner Valencia … to be our Balotelli.” His future at the back though looks extremely bright at club and international level. He has the mentality to become one of the top Ecuadorian defenders of his generation, and has been repeatedly linked with a Premier League move.
