Unapologetically old-school, Batubinsika provides depth behind the preferred defensive pairing of Chancel Mbemba and Axel Tuanzebe. Trained at Paris St-Germain and a former France youth international, Batubinsika long kept the idea of representing DR Congo in the back of his mind before finally committing in 2023. “I always thought about it, but the call from coach Sébastien Desabre at the beginning of 2023 was decisive,” he explained. “He has played a huge role in the team’s recent progress. Everything felt structured, so I knew it was the right moment to begin my international career.” Over a dozen caps later, he has become a regular in Desabre’s squad. Comfortable in physical battles and dominant in the air, Batubinsika may not be the flashiest defender in the group, but his reliability and experience make him an important option.
