A 1.98m powerhouse who isn’t afraid of getting stuck in. In January he embraced his bad boy image, saying: “People don’t like me? That actually makes me feel good.” But in May things reached a tipping point: he was sent off for elbowing an opponent in the head in a chaotic Prague derby, his third red of the season, prompting Slavia’s furious chairman, Jaroslav Tvrdik, to transfer-list him. “Tomas is clearly unable to control his behaviour,” said Tvrdik. “With this behaviour, he does not belong on the field.” The league’s disciplinary committee banned him for six games, saying the elbow was “not an accidental event … neither emotions nor the assertive style of play that Tomas Chory presents can be an excuse for such an action”. He has plenty of experience, and has spent his whole club career in Czechia apart from a loan spell in Belgium with Zulte Waregem. He made his international debut in 2023, scoring and assisting in a 3-0 Euro 2024 qualifying win over Moldova.
