Having represented several Dutch youth national teams, he switched allegiance to Curaçao national football team in 2023. The decision quickly paid off, as World Cup qualification was secured after a 0–0 draw away at Jamaica last year, sparking what he described as “really the best party ever”. Afterwards, footage emerged of teammates attempting to wake him by using a horn on the flight from Jamaica to Curaçao. “I knew it was going to be a long day so I told everyone I was going to sleep for an hour,” Floranus told ESPN. That did not work out but he had another opportunity to catch up on his sleep. “Luckily I managed nine hours on the flight back to the Netherlands,” he added. A cousin of the former Newcastle United defender Jetro Willems, Floranus is a versatile player, capable of playing at right-back, left-back and centre-back.
