Guela Doué #17
DEF · Strasbourg · Swiss army knife · Côte d'Ivoire
Profile
Ivorians always know Doué will give everything for the shirt. The former France youth international, who is the older brother of PSG’s Désiré, chose to represent Côte d’Ivoire at Under-23 level. “Since I was little, I always wanted to play for Côte d’Ivoire,” he says. “The orange shirt, the elephant. It’s my homeland. I’m proud to wear this shirt. I was really proud when I told my dad about it.” Emerse Faé’s Swiss army knife, Doué is best at right-back but can more than fill in as a defensive midfielder. As effective going forward as in his defensive work, the 23-year-old showed his worth at his first Afcon in January and this World Cup could open doors for the Strasbourg player.
