Has picked up his fair share of nicknames during his short career. When he first came through at Millonarios they called him ‘Diablito’ (the little devil) because of his mischievous style of play. He’s also been called ‘Yanfri’ after a kid that went viral on social media who apparently looked like him. One nickname he doesn’t like is ‘Tinito’ – his style of play is similar to Tino Asprilla – because Asprilla was an Atlético Nacional man, Millonarios’s big rivals. Gómez had a tough start to life. “As I kid, I grew up watching some of my friends get killed and saw others follow the wrong path. But my whole family has always been into football,” he wrote in Chocó 7 Días. He also admitted that he himself had almost gone down the wrong path: he tried to rob someone once but got caught. The 24-year-old has two passions: motorbikes and dancing. “Wherever I go, I always do my neighbourhood's popular dance. It’s a way of expressing where I come from,” he said.
