Semedo chose the road less taken. Despite being born and raised in the suburbs of Paris, Semedo’s football opportunities were extremely limited. After failing to break through into professional football in France, he made the bold decision to move to Cyprus to play for fourth division side Alki Oroklini. In four seasons with the club he earned three promotions. After stints around Europe and Saudi Arabia the pacy winger landed back in Cyprus with Omonia Nicosia, whom he powered to a first title in four years. He is arguably Cape Verde’s most in-form player at a club level. He was the Cyprus Sports Writers’ Player of the Year in 2025 and, this season, became the first player to register double digits in goals and assists in the Cyprus first division’s history.
