Logan Costa #5
DEF · Villarreal · Elite defender · Cape Verde
Profile
In a team full of talented journeymen, Logan Costa is perhaps Cape Verde’s sole elite player. The French-born centre-back (and cousin to Dailon Livramento) broke through at Toulouse where he scored twice in the final of the club's historic Coupe de France win before moving to Villarreal. The powerful ball-playing defender is the only Cape Verdean playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues and is the nation’s most important player, having formed a solid partnership with Pico Lopes. “He has all the necessary ingredients to become even stronger than he already is,” former Blue Shark and current scout at West Ham, Georges Santos, says. “Villarreal are a very good team, but I could see him play for Barça, Real Madrid and Atlético as he is a quick and intelligent player and can defend.” Suffered an ACL injury during pre-season, only returning to the pitch in Villarreal’s penultimate game of the season. His fitness will likely define whether the Blue Sharks fail or succeed in North America.
