Before he had even turned 18, Celik was wearing the captain’s armband at Sarajevo, a club where it is usually reserved for older players with years behind them. Inside Bosnian football that was treated less as a publicity stunt and more as confirmation of something coaches had been quietly repeating for years: that Celik carried himself differently from most players his age. Tall, calm and unusually mature in possession, he belongs to a generation of Bosnian defenders shaped as much by modern positional football as by old Balkan ideas of toughness. Lens moved for him in early 2025, making him one of the most expensive transfers in the history of the Bosnian league.
