Only a few years ago Memic was playing in the second tier of Bosnian football with Radnik Hadzici, far away from the spotlight or serious national-team conversations. His rise since then has been rapid even by modern football standards: Slovenia, then Czech football, then Viktoria Plzen and European competition, all in the space of four years. Sergej Barbarez’s decision to call him up for the senior national team in 2025 initially surprised many supporters in Bosnia and Herzegovina. But inside the squad, Memic quickly earned respect because of the qualities that define almost his entire game: pace, direct running and relentless energy with and without the ball. Barbarez praised his mentality and willingness to work for the team, while teammates describe him as one of the easier personalities to integrate into the dressing room.
