Vanaken likes to collect things. The playmaker already has six Belgian titles (with Club Brugge) and three Golden Boots for best player in the Belgian league, but his collection of football shirts is equally impressive. He has around 350, many of them obtained by swapping with opponents. One is missing though: Lionel Messi’s international shirt. He’s already got one of the GOAT from when he played against Paris St-Germain. “I have to thank our president, Bart Verhaeghe, who went into their dressing room,” he told Sporza. But Messi’s light blue and white Argentina jersey is at the top of his wishlist. Could they meet at this World Cup? One thing he doesn’t like to collect is yellow and red cards, but he does love playing cards with his teammates while travelling for away games. He’ll know what to do during the long flights in the weeks ahead.
