The Dortmund midfielder is set to reach 100 caps during the World Cup, and will become only the fifth Austrian man to do so. Known for his quiet, almost reclusive off-pitch demeanour, Sabitzer is omnipresent on the field, usually deployed as a roaming left winger and involved in almost every attacking move. At 32, he has maintained his performance level thanks to rigorous discipline. “I haven’t opened a pack of crisps in the last five years,” he confessed in 2021. Sabitzer is not afraid of confrontation and has clashed with club coaches in the past, though never with Rangnick – at least publicly. Not one to take results lightly, he skipped an international friendly to recover mentally after having lost the Champions League final in 2024. Sabitzer married Katja Kühne, a winner of the German edition of The Bachelor, in 2025.
